Debt Settlement Order Scam

Last Updated: Monday 23rd April, 2012

If you are reading this then, like me, you have received a text stating that the Government has introduced a new scheme called the Debt Settlement Order. It hasn't!

Now I was going to stop writing here as basically anyone who receives such a text and acts upon it deserves what they get. But this is unfair. The reason these texts work is that there a thousands of people out there who are at their wits end about their debt and sometimes lose the power of critical thinking, which is why Debtwatchdog is here to help.

The scum debt management companies who send out these texts are firstly breaking the law as it is an offence under the Consumer Credit Act to canvas off trade premises "the services of a credit broker, debt adjuster, debt counsellor, or provider of credit information services". Secondly, they are preying on the most vulnerable and should be named and shamed which we are happy to do.

So if you have received one of these texts please don't feel bad about acting on it. If you find out who the company is just contact me and I'll post up their name.

The text I got was from 447522075003

"The government has introduced a Debt Settlement Order, this means people struggling with debt can apply to have it wiped off, to apply txt DEBT. 2 stop txt STOP
